How to Wash Your Car Properly
Using the Two-Bucket Method
A simple beginner guide using Opaline Car Shampoo, CRAFTWASH Mitt and AQUAGRIP 1600.
|
OPALINE CAR SHAMPOO Creates foam, glide and cleaning power for the exterior wash. |
CRAFTWASH MITT Safely touches the paint and helps lift dirt with light pressure. |
AQUAGRIP 1600 Dries the car after rinsing to help reduce water spots. |
Washing your car properly does not need to be complicated. The goal is simple: remove dirt safely, protect the paint, and leave the car looking clean, glossy, and refined.
The two-bucket method uses one bucket for clean shampoo water and one bucket for rinsing your wash mitt. This helps keep dirt away from the paint and gives you a safer, cleaner wash.
What You Need
• Opaline Car Shampoo
• CRAFTWASH Mitt
• AQUAGRIP 1600 Drying Towel
• Two clean buckets
• A hose or pressure washer
• Optional: grit guards
Simple Wash Process
|
1 |
Park in the Shade Make sure the car is cool before you start. Hot panels can dry water and shampoo too quickly, which can leave streaks or water spots. |
|
2 |
Rinse the Car First Rinse the whole car from top to bottom before touching the paint. This removes loose dust, dirt and grit. |
|
3 |
Set Up Two Buckets Bucket 1: Opaline Car Shampoo and water. Bucket 2: clean rinse water only. Wash, rinse the mitt, reload with shampoo, then repeat. |
|
4 |
Wash With the CRAFTWASH Mitt Dip the mitt into the Opaline wash bucket. Wash one section at a time using light pressure and straight lines. |
|
5 |
Rinse the Mitt After Each Section After each section, rinse the CRAFTWASH Mitt in the rinse bucket, squeeze out dirty water, then reload it with clean shampoo. |
|
6 |
Be Gentle Around Dirty Areas The lower panels hold the most dirt. Do not scrub hard. Let the shampoo sit for a moment, then gently pass over it again. |
|
7 |
Rinse Thoroughly Rinse from top to bottom and check mirrors, badges, grilles, door handles, window edges and lower trims. |
|
8 |
Dry With AQUAGRIP 1600 Place the towel flat on the wet panel and gently pull it across the surface. Let the towel absorb the water instead of rubbing hard. |

Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
Using dish soap: Use a proper car shampoo like Opaline Car Shampoo.
Washing in direct sunlight: Sunlight can dry water and shampoo too fast.
Using one dirty bucket: The two-bucket method keeps your wash process cleaner.
Using an old sponge: Use the CRAFTWASH Mitt for safer contact washing.
Starting from the bottom: The bottom of the car is the dirtiest. Start from the top.
Pressing too hard: Let the shampoo and mitt do the work.
Letting the car air dry: Dry with AQUAGRIP 1600 to help prevent water spots.
Final Thought
A proper car wash is not about making the process difficult. Rinse first, wash gently, clean the mitt often, rinse thoroughly and dry properly. That is how you wash your car with confidence.
